fireblade comicsJason Rawley, of Fireblade Comics, has been a regular at Gulf Coast MakerCon for the last two years, and we’re excited to have him back again for our 2016 event.
We asked Jason to tell us a bit about his work.
___________
GCMC: What do you make?
JR:  Props and custom action figures, action figure display bases and dioramas, scale 304e86cd-e90e-4f3c-a747-da6b3f276f75models, and other collectibles.
GCMC: Why do you make it?
JR: For business and personal use. I run the Suncoast Ghostbusters which is a large group of costumers in the Tampa Bay area who costume as Ghostbusters for charity events. There are several on our team who make their own props and equipment, but I make a majority of what we wear. It gives me the ability to improve my builds because they get used and abused often. I also sell props in a wide range of genres, for both cosplay and display purposes.

GCMC: Why do you want to share what you make or why might others be interested?
JR: People in general are fascinated by movie production, namely special effects and props and costumes. I find a lot of people like to see how movie props look and feel and work in real life.
GCMC:  What do you hope to take away from Gulf Coast MakerCon?
JR: Every MakerCon I meet new people and make new friends, as well as learn new things. I expect this one will be no different.
GCMC:  Why do you think Gulf Coast MakerCon is important?cfdd5b29-54e0-42a3-8bec-1ca9feeecdf5
JR: It’s awesome to have a convention centered around inventing and creative talent. It gives the Makers the ability to branch out and learn new things from each other, share resources, etc. I think the general public enjoys seeing what new ideas and invention are out there and how technology is constantly advancing and improving areas of our life.
I myself just enjoy meeting fellow geeks.
