A new Maker at MakerCon this year, we’re happy to welcome the EElectric Macaron – Modular Light Up Ears: Interactive Wearable Tech : a fusion of technology and creativity. where engineering and artistry meet!
At MakerCon, guests can learn to build their own glowing ears using 3D-printed parts and modular LED components!
This hands-on exhibit invites participants to snap together customizable pieces, experiment with light patterns, and control effects using a companion device. All designs are original, reconfigurable, and meant to be played with—touch everything, remix endlessly, and explore the fun side of DIY electronics and wearable design.
Nannette Suarez, creator of the Electric Macaron, says her presentation “explores how interactivity transforms the way people engage with electronics and design. I’ll share how I developed modular, light-up ears using 3D-printed parts and LED components—and why encouraging people to touch, tinker, and remix is at the heart of the experience. Attendees will learn about designing for play, open-ended creativity, and how building approachable tech invites deeper curiosity and connection. Come ready to swap parts, control lights, and see what happens when you make your work truly hands-on.”
